It’s September, the leaves are starting to change, the weather is getting a bit cooler, and around our house that means Halloween is around the corner.
Tickets and meals received.
We couldn’t wait to start celebrating early at Cedar Point’s Halloweekends. We visited Cedar Point the opening night of Halloweekends this year. We were excited to see the park decorated for Halloween, to check out the parade, and ride as many rides as we could.
Since we were there for early entry we were excited to find the lines for rides much shorter than usual. Dave immediately headed toward The Gatekeeper.
This is the new winged roller coaster at Cedar Point and it’s been so popular that the line is always quite long. Dave was thrilled to have a wait less than 10 minutes before he was soaring through the air. Kora, Logan, and I watched for him and snapped pictures.
Here’s a Vine video of our view of the ride while we waited for Dave.
Here’s another Vine video of The Gatekeeper as it soars across the park entrance and through two keyhole towers.
Dave said that, while he’s never been on a fighter jet, he imagines The Gatekeeper feels just like being on one. He said the ride was incredibly smooth and banked on turns like you see the fighter jets in the movie.
Next we went right to the Top Thrill Dragster. Since it opened Dave has been wanting to ride it as well but the lines have always been too long. This time he practically walked right on. If you haven’t heard of the Top Thrill Dragster it’s a coaster that shoots up 420 feet in the air and you go 120 mph in 4 seconds.
Here’s a video of the ride in action so you can get a feel of just how fast and high it is.
While I haven’t ridden it, it’s one of my favorite rides to watch. Dave came back from his ride all smiles. He said it was incredible and couldn’t believe what a rush it was! He also said he couldn’t wait to ride it again the next time the line is short.
While walking through the park we admired all of the Halloweekends decorations.
The kids had fun riding a variety of rides too. Kora was excited to get on the Iron Dragon a couple of times. (If you squint hard you can see her and Dave in the last row).
Logan and I rode the Scrambler and then later Dave and he rode it too. They sent over a silly pic of all the fun they were having.
That evening we enjoyed a delicious buffet at the Market Fresh restaurant and had some fun friends to keep us company.
The night got chilly quickly and we were glad to be given Halloweekends sweatshirts and hats to warm up with.
We had so much fun on Friday evening that we couldn’t wait to come back on Saturday. The weather was much nicer. The sun was out and the sky was blue. It made for some fantastic photo opportunities.
Kora and Logan were excited to ride some of their favorite rides like the Frog Hopper and Dodge ‘Em Bumper Cars.
We also watched the parade at 4 pm on Saturday. It’s a cute parade that Kora & Logan enjoyed and look forward to each year.
We had a fantastic time at Cedar Point’s Halloweekends. There is so much to do and see that we only saw a portion of all of the Halloweekends events this year. Last year we also enjoyed a Halloween play by the Peanuts gang, a kids hay maze, and delicious caramel apples in the park. We can’t wait to go back to do these things again and more.
Some of the activities that are on our list for our next visit include Trick or Treating with the Dinosaurs, Dave wants to see one or more of their Haunted Houses, and many park goers enjoy the Zombie High School and scare zones. Cedar Point has it all to get into the Halloween spirit and for thrillseekers of any age.
All the pictures make me want to go coastering!
This place looks like so much fun and just wonderful for the kids and big kids too. That Gatekeeper looks super spooky thanks for sharing this one and have a great day.
This looks like such a fun place to visit with great rides! The decorations look amazing, too!
From the looks of the pictures i would definitely have to visit that place.
OMG – this place looks AMAZING!!! I want to go on that rollercoaster right now and i love the spooky theme too cute.
That coaster is calling my name! I love them. Trying to find fun things without the creepy scare factor is becoming somewhat difficult this year, for our LO. Love Koras stockings.
What a fun place!!! Looks like your family had a great time.
Great pictures! Looks like a fun place to go. We aren’t big roller coaster family though.
Looks awesome!
What a fantastic time your having!!!!Your so lucky!!!!
I’m really hoping to take my kids this year. I have been meaning to do this for the past few years.
Love going to Cedar Point, have never been on a Halloweekend, going to have to go.
Love Halloweekends
One of my favorite fall activities.
I love going to amusement parks in the fall instead of during the summer..not as hot, lines are not as long and most of them have awesome Halloween weekends (my favorite holiday) . We usually go to Kings Island because my mom lives near it but I’d love to go to Cedar Point too just to have Lake Erie to explore as well!
I’ve always wanted to go to Halloweekends and I am for the first time this year! I’m even more excited now!
Going to Fremont in 3 weeks to visit my fiance’s family. We are definitely planning a trip to cedar point! Super excited because I’ve never been.
that looks, awesome, will have to look into that for next year.
I love halloweekends. Rides are awesome for all ages. Trust me when I say this though. Night time is PG13 only. My kids got so scared.
looks like so much fun – but you are braver than i am when it comes to the rides!
okay now I need to go
OMG ~ I don’t know what you used to take these pics but they are outstanding! Those rides look absolutely thrilling and the apples are mouth watering. That place should be visited by everyone within travel distance. Family fun for sure!
This is my favorite Halloween attraction.
I love this blog post! We LOVE Halloweekends. I was really disappointed to have to cancel being there on Friday. Both my daughter and myself have been sick with head and chest colds.
Awww…looks like you guys had a great time. I think we may try to make it up before the season ends.
Could not pay me enough to ride those, but I love Halloween Town
Love Halloweekends!!!!
Oh what fun. I used to be able to ride roller coasters but for some reason I can’t anymore. My grandchildren would love riding them though and I would love watching them. It looks like you had such a wonderful day.
Your family had an amazing time… very fun. Looking forward to this (or something similar)
Looks so much fun!
I watched a video of The Gatekeeper in action and holy moly! I have got to ride that thing! I love Halloween so this would be a perfect time for my family to plan a trip. I love the picture of your daughter with the black and orange striped tights. Super cute!
This looks like great fun! Except for the thrill rides. Those don’t look fun. Tell ya’ what…I’ll just hold your things and wave as you go flinging by on those things :)
