Encyclopedia Britannica Interactive Science Library Review

Kora and Logan are always asking questions. “What are veins?” “Why is the sun too hot to touch?” “How long does it take to get to the moon?” “What animal runs the fastest?” On top of that, Logan has become what we call, Random Facts Man. When he learns a fact he repeats it and makes sure everyone around him knows about it. Remember the little boy from Jerry Maguire? “Did you know the human head weighs 8 pounds?” He reminds us a bit of him especially when he’s telling us a new fact or two while wearing his glasses.

That’s why I was excited to learn about the Encyclopedia Britannica Interactive Science Library.

Interactive Encyclopedia BritannicaThe library comes with 6 books that are about 80 pages each, 2 posters, a SD-X reader pen that provides hours of audio content, and a 6-month membership to Britannica Online.

The 6 books are divided by topic and cover:

  • Earth
  • Humans
  • Animals
  • Under the Sea
  • Space
  • Dinosaurs, Reptiles, & Birds

One poster explores the Animal Kingdom and the other explores the Solar System.

Kora & Logan have always enjoyed the Leapfrog Tag pens but are slowly starting to outgrow them. Thankfully the Encyclopedia Britannica Interactive Science Library has come along and is in the same fun, interactive format. Simply touch the pen to any page in the book or on the posters and it will recognize invisible codes and will playback audio content including descriptions, definitions, sequencing, and even quizzes.

Encyclopedia Britannica InteractiveThis library is so full of interactive information it will keep Kora & Logan busy for years! Here’s a Kora demonstrating how it works with Logan making a guest appearance to explain it as well:

Recently they’ve been most interested in the book about the Earth. They both have been excited and amazed when learning about volcanoes, lava, and how old the earth is. They also love the book about dinosaurs. This surprised me because while I know some children are fascinated with dinosaurs, Kora & Logan really haven’t cared much about them.

Until now.

These days they are teaching me about different dinosaurs, their size, what they were good at, what they ate, and more. We are all enjoying the incredible amount of information presented in such a fun and interactive way.

We adore the Encyclopedia Britannica Interactive Science Library and would recommend to anyone with children in their lives. It’s the perfect gift for children who are interested in everything and always want to know more. It’s taken the old-fashioned encyclopedia set and really made them fun for kids. There’s nothing better for learning than adding fun and interactivity. This set is a great for kids and one that will sure to bring smiles this holiday season.

Products were provided. No compensation was received. The honest opinions are my own and those of my family.

It sounds so fun to use!

  2. What a neat way to learn! We are so into media learning in our own homeschool, we found that’s the best way for our daughter to retain information. When she has fun, she learns a whole lot more and is eager to continue. These look like something she would have loved when she was younger.
