For years I’d heard of bread pudding but had never tried it. So recently I decided to give it a try. I saved up the ends of a couple of loaves of bread that no one ever eats and made a fantastic bread pudding!
It really was delicious and reminded me a lot of my mom’s Christmas morning French Toast Casserole. Kora and Logan enjoyed helping out and eating it too! We’ll be sure to make this recipe again soon.
- 6 slices day-old bread, cubed
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 2 cups milk
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Place bread cubes in an 8-inch baking pan.
- Drizzle melted butter over bread.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. Beat until well mixed. Pour over bread, and lightly push down with a fork until bread is covered.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the top springs back.

So easy, sounds yummy!
My husband LOVES bread pudding! I will have to surprise him with this!

mmm Bread pudding is one of my favorite comfort foods! This version looks super easy! thanks for sharing :)
So easy is Bread Pudding? You need almost nothing, well, just the things everybody has at home anyway. I need to give this a try, maybe my picky little one will like it. If not, I will for sure. :-)
I love that you didn’t “ruin” it by adding raisins or nuts. I highly recommend the addition of blueberries to a bread pudding though. I make a blueberry bread pudding for dinner sometimes (it really is like baked french toast if you think about it).
I LOVE Bread pudding! Have tried to make it myself though. I just might try it.
Looks easy and fun to make-my boys will love this! Thanks for the recipe!
I have never had bread pudding. I don’t like rice pudding, so the thought of bread pudding gets categorized with that in my head ;)
But….when you said it reminded you of the French Toast Casserole recipe and I read the recipe – it sure does. And that made it sound good to me.
The prejudice is interesting….
Bread pudding is ONE OF MY FAVORITE desserts, I top it with a prune sauce! Awesome!

Wow, that looks really easy….I have to try it! Thanks!
