Did you know the original Bob Evans Farm is still around?
It is and it’s on the National Registry of Historic Places. The farm is located in Rio Grande, Ohio and this weekend there is a major celebration “down on the farm.”
The 40th Annual Bob Evans Farm Festival will run from Friday, October 8th through Sunday, October 10th from 9 am – 5 pm each day. The festival is attended by 30,00 people from 19 different states each year.
Just some of the events and activities at the Farm Festival include:
- Border Collie Herding
- Great Lakes Timber Show
- Mark Wood Fun Show
- Jason & Company Ventroliquist
- Tractor Square Dancing
- Equine Mounted Drill Team
- Chainsaw Carving
- Clogging
- Sheep Shearing
- Cow Milking
- Horseshoeing…and much more!
The Farm Festival also offers an area for Kids’ Farmyard Fun with Face Painting, Splatter Painting, a Game Tent, Lead Rides, Wagon Rides, Kiddie Train Rides, a Hay Bale Maze, a Corn Pile, and a Straw Castle!
There are a wide variety of contests as well, fun for both the participants and the spectators. Just some of the contests include:
- Pedal Tractor Pull
- Team Cow Chip Tossing (yes, that kind of cow chip!)
- Hula Hoop
- Corn Shelling
- Hay Bale Throwing
- Pie Eating…and more!
Musical entertainment will be filling the air all weekend with a variety of country, bluegrass, and gospel on multiple stages. After hours special entertainment from the Farm Festival musical acts will also take place on Friday and Saturday nights from 7 – 9 pm.
The Bob Evans Farm Festival food is enough to make your mouth water before you even arrive. Not only is there the original Bob Evans restaurant and food tent on site, but traditional food fare also includes bean soup, cornbread, kettle corn, pies, apple dumplings, ice cream, Ohio made cheeses and trail bologna, and more.
