Tired Dad Dave loves electronics, so much so that I’ve been thinking of changing his nickname here at 2 Wired 2 Tired to Tech Dad Dave. We recently received the Eyeball 2.0 web cam to review and Tired/Tech Dad Dave enjoyed working with it so much he happily wrote up the following review:
Plain ticket: $350.00
Rental car: $120.00
Hotel room: $200.00
Being able to say goodnight to Kora & Logan and hear them yell back at me “GOODNIGHT DADDY!!!!” PRICELESS
Blue Microphones is best known for their unmatched audio quality, I have used a microphone from Blue on my office computer for years with Skype and other “phone” programs on the computer. So I was thrilled to have the opportunity to see how their adventure into the web cam industry had gone.
When you first open the box, you can see this web cam places a huge emphasis on the audio. The microphone on this web cam is HUGE, at first it’s almost comical, but when you get to be on the receiving end of the CD-quality HD audio, you see it is well worth it.
Nestled just beyond the microphone is a HD video recorder with the means to record at up to 30 frames per second. The camera is a neat little contraption that can retract into the side of the microphone, which besides looking really cool, makes it easy to travel with and allows the camera to be safe and the whole web cam to fit snugly into the provided travel case.
One of the best features is how simple it is to get up and running. The Eyeball’s design allows you to attach it to the top of your monitor (either flat screen or laptop) or you can simply leave it on any flat surface in its case. All you need to do is plug in the USB and you are up and running, this makes it simple for the home desktop, and allows it to be very portable and convenient for use with your laptop if you are out traveling.
Our experience with the Eyeball 2.0 has been very useful for our family. Its has been used to make online calls to old college friends, but the best usage comes when Kora & Logan are in front of it. We have a set of grandparents in another state, and the kids love to chat online with grandma and grandpa. The HUGE mic on the Eyeball 2.0 makes certain that grandma and grandpa can hear every word that comes from Kora & Logan, even if they aren’t speaking right to the web cam.
However (and I am biased), I think the Eyeball 2.0 web cam has had its best uses on the occasional trip when I am away from Kora & Logan, or even for a quick hello from the kids during the day, while I am at work. This product is easy to use and high quality.
Father’s Day is just around the corner and I recommend the Eyeball 2.0 as a touching and heartfelt gift for that traveling dad or long-distance grandpa in your child’s life.
Thank you to Blue Microphones for providing the Eyeball 2.0 for review. No compensation was provided for this this review.

I think Tired Tech Dad Dave would be a good name change. Great review!
Wow this is a really great review. I was looking for a webcam. I’m going to check this out.
I love Tired Dad’s review! My husband is way way North without any phone service but we can Skype and it’s the greatest thng ever. We just got a webcam but nothing this good — I may have to reconsider after this review.

With every thing which appears to be developing throughout this subject material, many of your opinions are generally very refreshing. On the other hand, I beg your pardon, but I do not subscribe to your whole idea, all be it stimulating none the less. It seems to everyone that your comments are not totally justified and in actuality you are generally your self not even fully convinced of the point. In any event I did enjoy reading through it.
